The "fierce childhood" is a seven -part story of writer Phung Quan.

The fierce childhood was drafted by the West Lake in 1968 and completed in the grass tent in the middle of Tinh Tam Lake in 1986.

The fierce childhood revolves around the fighting life and the sacrifice of the 13 and 14 -year -old teenagers in the reconnaissance team of Tran Cao Van Regiment.

The fierce childhood described the process of participating in fighting and sacrificing at the very young age of more than thirty teenagers, focusing around four typical figures, Gathering, Meeting, Quynh Son Ca, Black, ... and a series of other characters such as: Snake Snake, Bay Sua, Tu Tu.

The fierce childhood has a character system that is quite similar to "smoke days" and a few other short stories, making readers feel that there are many different works in this period and wrote about a group of real characters.

In 1988, Phung Quan's fierce childhood novel was published and received the Children's Literature Award of the Vietnam Writers Association two years later and was made into a film.
